The “Purple Saturday” initiative, launched by the Authority for Persons with Disability in 2021, continues to achieve successive successes as one of the leading national initiatives. The initiative aims to unify efforts across the government, private, and non-profit sectors to enhance the inclusion and empowerment of persons with disabilities. The private sector contributes by offering exclusive deals, discounts, and benefits, while government and non-profit entities implement awareness programs and activate the initiative on the ground—strengthening a culture of accessibility and helping improve quality of life while enabling meaningful community participation.
In its sixth edition for 2026, the initiative witnessed a wide presence that exceeded local and regional levels. It was implemented across various cities and regions of the Kingdom and included strong Gulf participation. This expansion confirms the initiative’s broad impact and reinforces its standing as a leading national model for supporting and empowering persons with disabilities.
The initiative also achieved notable media and digital reach. Digitally, it recorded more than 300,000 visits to the Purple Saturday offers page, reflecting high demand to benefit from the available offers. Interaction across social media platforms surpassed 8,000 posts/shares, with more than 4,000 publications related to it. The initiative involved more than 2,500 participating branches and points of sale across the Kingdom, where these entities offered a variety of discounts and benefits that persons with disabilities benefited from. The initiative saw participation from more than 300 entities, with media coverage extending to more than 650 media items through the private sector, more than 350 published materials from government entities, and more than 340 press articles. These figures reflect the breadth of community awareness of the initiative’s message across different sectors.
These outstanding results confirm the Purple Saturday initiative’s success in establishing a unique national model for cross-sector integration, turning the concepts of inclusion and accessibility into tangible, practical actions. This achievement enhances persons with disabilities’ access to services and benefits, improves their quality of life, and supports their active participation in building society.
It is worth noting that the Authority for Persons with Disability is responsible for organizing matters related to persons with disabilities, empowering them, protecting their rights, enhancing accessibility, and improving the quality of services provided to them.
In this regard, the Authority seeks to improve their quality of life and strengthen their full participation in society—fulfilling the goals of Saudi Vision 2030 and working toward an inclusive, enabled society with equal opportunities.
